A new podcast celebrating black women and nature

“It’s been so inspiring to champion and celebrate black women and at the same time geek out with them on topics that matter.”

What can we look forward to in the new season of your podcast?

This is our first season and we are focusing on planetary health, so we are exploring our relationship with nature and wildlife and connection to health. We are talking about many things from clean air, to eco-anxiety and food justice. I have amazing guests on the show who are leading pioneering work around the world. It’s been so inspiring to champion and celebrate black women and at the same time geek out with them on topics that matter.

"Take your time to really develop your podcast idea"

What advice do you have for prospective podcasters or Sound Up alumni?

Take your time to really develop your podcast idea - your mission, understanding your audience, how you want to add value, how you work as a team, even if it’s just you starting out by yourself. The Sound Up programme was an amazing space for refining my idea and I loved the weekly sessions creating with other podcasters. Getting to this level of clarity in terms of my idea has been a game changer in developing this podcast. From the content and guests to branding and partnerships, the alignment speaks for itself. It took a while to get there but when it did, it has made the creation process much easier and more fulfilling.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned over your career?

Always listen and trust your intuition especially when it comes to people, opportunities and ideas.
