“Sourcing joy from the process of actually creating and learning how to do something that resonates with your creative spirit is where the success lies.”

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned over your career?

The most important thing I've learned over the past 5 years as an indie podcaster and content creator is that it's critical to go into any passion project with the intention of playing the long game. Oftentimes, society convinces us that if a project doesn't have immediate success or receive accolades early on it's a failed venture, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

“You have to remain committed to nurturing your seedling of an idea to life over time and trust that eventually people will 'get it'”

What is one piece of advice you’d give to someone starting out in your career or podcasting?

Design your career path and trajectory based on what you're inspired by, not by what's trendy or popular. If you want to carve out a niche lane for yourself, you'll have to be prepared to show up to producing your podcast and/or creative endeavors even if nobody quite understands your vision yet.

Would it be ideal if everyone you mentioned your idea(s) to immediately supported and understood what you wanted to bring into the world? Yes, of course! If I'm being honest though, that doesn't always happen, but despite the naysayers, you have to remain committed to nurturing your seedling of an idea to life over time and trust that eventually people will 'get it'.

The only way to set yourself up to want to show up day after day regardless of external validation is to ensure that you're pouring your time into something that ignites your creative spark.

What is the most interesting part of your job?

It's the fact that I have the privilege of creating and talking about whatever I want. Literally. As I've navigated the world of storytelling and podcasting it's become increasingly clear that I'm not alone in my interests and curiosities (this applies to us all), so you can always count on there always being an audience that is looking for exactly what you're offering.
